The Jordan Family

Because many of our friends and family members live miles away from us, we have created this journal in an attempt to keep in touch with the people that we love.

Beauty Hurts (sometimes)...

I took Lily to Bakersfield to have her ears pierced. I had planned on doing this when she was 6 months old, so I loaded up the babies on Sunday and headed for my parents home. My poor Dad had no idea what we had planned for the day. As we were driving to the mall he asked my Mom what we were going to the mall for. When she informed him that we were having Lily's ears pierced he said that if he had known what we were up to, he would have stayed home.
We went to the Piercing Pagoda, which is where I took Cassie and Miranda to have their belly buttons and eye brows pierced (just kidding). The girls went there for ear piercing when they were very young, so it has become a family tradition of sorts. My Dad pushed Quinlan around in the stroller once we got settled in at the piercing booth. He and Quinny went far enough away from us that they would not hear Lily scream, and scream she did. All of the parents in the nearby vicinity stopped and stared. I felt a little bad. She only cried for a minute, and she actually looks even more adorable with her little earrings.

What Did She Say?

Call me crazy, but I think Lily said her first word. We were in the car last week and she said, "DaDa." I thought that I was trying too hard to decipher her babbling, so I didn't say anything to the big kids. Later that day, our girls were with us and they heard Lily talking. After a few moments they exclaimed that she said DaDa. Maybe I am not crazy after all. ;)

Bath Time

Grandpa and Grandma Jordan love bathing the babies. Lucky me! Quinlan has his own collection of rubber duckies and assorted toys for the tub, and now that Lily is getting bigger she is able to join him. By the looks of this photo shoot, she is not too fond of the bubble bath. I'm sure that will change soon enough. ;)

Quinlan's 2nd Birthday

Quinny had a great second birthday, if you can ignore the cold, freezing weather. Okay, maybe I am being a bit dramatic. I really try my best to avoid the cold.
We had his party at the city park, and all of our friends and family were there to celebrate with us. It was great!
I met a very talented woman who makes designer cakes, and she prepared a Toy Story themed cake and some delicious cupcakes, my parents found a huge pinata for the kids to beat that was shaped like a number two, we ate pizza, visited with friends/family, played with the kids on the park toys, and had a great time.
Quinlan received a lot of great books which THRILLED him to no end. His favorite book came from Uncle Taylor and Aunt Lori. It is a pop-up book, called One Red Dot, that I was afraid to let him touch, but he is obsessed with it and asks for it approximately every 60 minutes. :)
My parents came over from Bakersfield to help set everything up for the party. They are amazing like that. Big brother Colin came from Oregon to celebrate with us, and he worked for several days on assembling a swing set for Quinlan's birthday. Don't ask.

Lily is Rollin'

She finally did it! After weeks of watching her struggle with her arms stuck under her torso, Lily has mastered the art of the roll. It was so funny to see. I placed her on her play mat, and all of the sudden she appeared next to the couch. This was odd because the couch was several feet away from her. I put her on the play mat again and waited to see how she accomplished this astounding trick. I wish I had a video. She was flipping over like a girl on a mission.

Chloe's Birthday

I drove the kids to Shafter to attend their cousin Chloe's birthday party. Quinlan had a blast! The petting zoo was a big hit, and I was really hoping to get some cool photos of him on his first pony ride, but he was not to keen on sitting on the saddle. Maybe next time.
It was a dress-up party, and my brother and sister-in-law were all dressed up as were their girls. Quinn could not believe his eyes when he saw Buzz Lightyear at the party. He is a HUGE Toy Story fan.
It was a great time, and the kids and I had the opportunity to visit with our family which does not happen often enough.
